The Nepal Academy of Science and Technology (NAST) has decided to award scientists, technologists, and talented individuals in 12 different categories. This decision was made during the 48th Academic Assembly of NAST, held at 26 November 2024.

The meeting, chaired by Prime Minister and Chancellor KP Sharma Oli at the Prime Minister’s residence in Baluwatar, approved the recommendation of the Selection and Evaluation Committee led by an academician from NAST. The awards will be presented during the institution’s upcoming annual celebration.
During the meeting, Prime Minister Oli emphasized the need for NAST to establish a system that ensures timely and high-quality work. He directed officials to finalize and implement contribution-based pension schemes and to present amendments to the 2066 financial administration regulations in the next assembly after further preparation.
Minister for Education, Science, and Technology and Pro-Chancellor of NAST, Vidya Bhattarai, highlighted the need to manage procurement in accordance with the Public Procurement Act. Similarly, NAST Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Dilip Subba assured that necessary groundwork would be completed to propose amendments to the regulations.
This initiative underscores NAST’s commitment to recognizing and fostering excellence in science and technology while ensuring effective institutional governance.
